It is one of my favourite paintings by Theo Michael and personally, I see the characters at play by the scene of some grizzly crime, taking pictures, and gathering information amongst themselves https://voltagebets.net/. But, it could just as easily be anything you imagine, such is the beauty of Theo’s painting and what is left unsaid.
Akira Kurosawa’s ‘Dreams’ brings Vincent van Gogh’s ‘Wheatfield with Crows’ to life. The film captures the emotional turbulence of Van Gogh’s painting, creating a visual homage that resonates with the artist’s troubled genius.
Agnès Godard, who has lensed some of the most beautiful films of the past few decades, including Jacquot de Nantes (1991) and Beau Travail (1999), rarely alludes to specific painters or paintings. In one of her most recent efforts, Let the Sunshine In (2017), she made an exception. The main character, played by Juliette Binoche, paints large, Abstract Expressionist works, and over the course of the film, Godard shows her hard at work, fanning colors across huge canvases laid flat on the floor.
Artists like Gregory Crewdson and Cindy Sherman are well-known for their cinematic approach to photography and painting. Crewdson’s elaborately staged photographs, with their meticulous attention to detail and dramatic lighting, create eerie, film-like scenes that seem to tell incomplete stories. Sherman’s use of self-portraiture and narrative tableaux in her photography similarly reflects a deep engagement with cinematic storytelling techniques.
Theatrical artwork
Live theater offers a real-time, shared experience between performers and the audience. The immediacy of the performance, the energy in the room, and the unpredictability of live action contribute to its uniqueness.
Theater is wellicht de meest uitgesproken kunstvorm waarin de mens als individu binnen de samenleving zichzelf herkent en zijn eigen, soms onderdrukte emoties, opnieuw kan beleven door het spel op het toneel.
It’s worth pointing out that the relationship between theatre and painting wasn’t one-directional. The former, quite clearly, provided inspiration for the latter. However, art provided inspiration for acting too.

Classic artwork
The Gleaners by Jean-François Millet is an oil painting that depicts three peasant women gleaning a wheat field after a harvest. The painting is perceived as a pioneering work of modern art and represents the artist’s profound respect for peasants and their dignity. The painting is the result of Millet’s ten years of research on the subject of gleaners.
This iconic painting by Sandro Botticelli depicts the goddess Venus arriving on land on a seashell. Beautifully rendered in tempera on canvas, the nude goddess stands tall against a windswept backdrop, modestly attempting to cover herself as she steps onto the shore. Exemplifying the ethereal style of Early Renaissance painting, The Birth of Venus is a masterpiece of visual harmony and proportion. Botticelli was inspired by descriptions by ancient writers to create this enduring celebration of beauty and classical themes.
Also known as The Roman Maidens, this is one of the most popular paintings by Filipino painter Juan Luna. The artist created this painting during his six years of stay in Rome during the Spanish period. The painting shows a domestic scene of ancient Roman life, portraying two ladies lying on the stairs. The women in the painting seem to be in harmony with nature, representing the richness of life.
